Bo~El MC-6 Dutch Purple Dot
My friends from Vexation, Eef and Andrew, both play Bo~El guitars made by Dutch master luthier Huub Boel.
Eef plays a seven string MC and Andrew a six string MC. They are very happy with the stunning quality of their guitars and especially Andrew tried to convince me of the sound and playability of these unique handcrafted guitars.
A few weeks ago I came across a Bo~El guitar on Marktplaats (Dutch eBay-ish site) and I had to have it. I was able to buy it at a very reasonable price (a little more than half of the "new" price). I can't believe someone selling this baby, but I'm not complaining.
Most Wanted tunes all guitars and basses to Es (E flat), so I had to have the bridge adjusted to the different tuning. I called the Bo~El guitar company. The telephone was answered by Huub himself, a very friendly man and very passionate about his guitars:
"You have a Bo~El and it needs to be adjusted? Drop by the shop tomorrow. No charge.". No charge??? But I didn't buy the guitar in your shop, I bought it second-hand!
"It's a Bo~El, isn't it? You get a lifetime guarantee and service!".
My jaw dropped... So, next day I went to Huub's shop in Zutphen and had my guitar adjusted. Thanks Huub!
Huub advised me to restring with Curt Mangan strings, so I did.
The difference is amazing! I used to play brands like D'addario, Ernie Ball and others but they simply are inferior to the Curt Mangan strings.
The only other strings I've found that are of equal quality are Dean Markley's Blue Steel. I use them on my Ibanez Jem.
